Artystry Designs “Buy me a Coffee”
A team of young architects design open, colourful office interiors that make for a relaxed workspace in Calicut with enough room for positivity, ideal at a time when there is a need to maintain distance.
The brief was clear when Jijo Sunny approached Nahal Ahammed and Anas Mohammed of Artystry to design an office space at Hilite business park, Calicut, Kerala. With a name as casual as “Buy me Coffee”, the architects were quite sure what the clients wanted from this working space; a fun, energetic, vibrant space that makes working a fun experience. A stress-free atmosphere for aspiring young technology professionals was what the architects wanted to express through their interiors and they seem to have achieved it through the open, bright colored space.
Buy me a coffee is located at the third floor of a business centre and covers a total interior area of 2400 sq. ft. The architects’ initial step was to intercept the entire plan with greenery through large indoor plants adding not just positivity but also for improving the indoor air quality.
With working spaces alternating between standing desks and face to face workspace, an interesting play of spaces is attained. The elevated seats and the ottoman cushions thrown around gives for a relaxed workspace adding to the casual atmosphere that the client wished for. Exposed ceilings, colored pipes, and an option to work in different surroundings, from a casual, put your feet up, kind of space to a conventional desk and chair area or to a more formal, perched up kind of a position for those who cannot sit for a long time.
Various facilities such as gaming spot, pantry, brainstorming zone, resting room consist of twin leveled beds, sundeck, mobile library makes the working space much more than a mere office space, making it a space to aspire to be in.
The designer has opted more of an open plan concept than that of fixed spatial plan with an advantage of open ventilation and sunlight further adding to the relaxed atmosphere.
A fixed spatial plan has been maintained for the CEO office, engineers’ rooms, and for the conference room. The designer has kept an open plan by giving partitions to these rooms in glass and aluminum fabrication. The CEO office and the pantry area are so arranged that the ingress to sundeck can be from both the rooms.
