Together We Are Showcases Creativity of Young Artists at MIA

Together We Are is an exhibition at Museum of Islamic Art, MIA, that showcases over 26 artworks created by children from Egypt’s Cancer Hospital, celebrating the therapeutic role of art in healthcare and underscoring the strong cultural ties between Qatar and Egypt.

Tasneem, a 17-year-old girl stands nervously beside her painting at MIA. Her work is one of the 26 artworks created by children from Egypt’s Cancer Hospital, celebrating the therapeutic role of art in healthcare and underscoring the strong cultural ties between Qatar and Egypt.

“My painting expresses all my emotions; nervousness, happiness and even anger,” says Tasneem as she explains her work. She might be nervous but she is also hopeful for her future.

Each painting and drawing in the exhibition reflect the creativity and resilience of young artists undergoing cancer treatment, capturing personal stories of hope, courage, and imagination.

As part of this initiative, the MIA hosted a series of workshops and interactive sessions designed for the visiting children. These activities, focused on art therapy and creative expression, provided a nurturing environment where the children could explore their artistic skills and process their experiences creatively. Spanning a week, the programme included various workshops and tours of locations around Doha.

The MIA in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar unveiled Together We Are, inaugurated by H.E. Lolwah Al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Shaika Nasser Al-Nassr, Director of The Museum of Islamic Art, and H.E. Amr El-Sherbiny, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Qatar.

Together We Are exhibition invites art enthusiasts, healthcare professionals, and the generalpublic to experience these powerful stories and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit while emphasising art’s role in healing and building connections across cultures.
