In Homage to Bellini’s Iconic Armchair
During Milan Design Week 2019, Santoni and Patricia Urquiola united to proposed a tribute to Mario Bellini’s iconic armchair.
“Cab” armchair by Cassina, one of the most representative products of the internationally renowned architect and designer was revisited by Patricia Urquiola, Cassina’s creative director and long- term partner of Santoni on retail spaces projects, and proposed in three special editions, hand painted by Santoni.
Santoni’s typical patina enhances the shaded effect conceived by Patricia and gives life to the tones of petrol blue, lobster and sage green.
A visual exercise aimed at translating the intangible idea of nuance into a sophisticated artisanal product.
“It’s an honour for me to cooperate with Patricia and to create this special edition of the iconic product designed in 1977 by Mario Bellini, a great architect and a friend. This is a tribute to the great Italian design and to our unparalleled savoir-faire”, says Giuseppe Santoni, CEO of Santoni.
