What Not to Miss at the Milan Design Week 2026
It is that time of the year when Milan and its population get into a frenzy. Design exhibitions and solo shows take over every garden, some palaces, and even the most unexpected spaces in the city. Brands, design creatives, and luxury houses put on shows that are not just unmissable but also epitomise creative energy. So much so, the city itself becomes a vibe, the Milanese design vibe.
Here is our curated list of places, exhibitions, and shows to make time for and immerse yourself in before the MDW 2026 becomes a thing of the past.
Alcova
Alcova returns for its 11th edition, unfolding across two extraordinary sites that each, in its own way, embody the essence of Milan’s urban identity. Alcova will open new, never‑before‑seen spaces within the Military Hospital of Baggio, a vast, green complex in the Primaticcio district. The second site will be the legendary Villa Pestarini by Franco Albini: now a private residence, it has never been open to the public. Together, these two locations create an architectural dialogue between preservation and reinvention.

CONVEY BUILDING offers a complete experience where exhibition, cultural programming, and community come together under one roof. At its centre is a 360° panoramic rooftop overlooking the city, the beating heart of Convey, a social hub animated by dedicated events and moments of networking.

Polish Modernism
After the success of its 2025 debut with Romantic Brutalism, an exhibition dedicated to Polish high craftsmanship and design, the Visteria Foundation returns to Milan Design Week with a new show titled Polish Modernism. A Struggle for Beauty. This new project offers a layered reading of the many expressions of the Modernist movement, bringing historical works into dialogue with contemporary objects and highlighting how Modernist thinking continues to significantly shape Polish design culture today. Staged on the 16th floor of Torre Velasca, an emblem of post‑war modernity, the exhibition explores how Poland’s complex and turbulent history gave rise to a singular form of Modernism, one in which the decorative arts retained a central role, resisting the traditional opposition between form and function.

Metamorphosis in Motion by Lina Ghotmeh
For Milan Design Week 2026, architect Lina Ghotmeh transforms the Courtyard of Honour at Palazzo Litta into a fluid, living landscape. Metamorphosis in Motion—her first outdoor site‑specific installation in Italy—reimagines the baroque courtyard as a shifting maze of curves, perspectives, and quiet pauses, an architecture activated by the movement of visitors.
Rooted in her “archaeology of the future” approach, Ghotmeh blends historical memory with contemporary urgencies, turning the monumental courtyard into a shared, evolving space. The project continues on the piano nobile, where a curated selection by Caterina Mosca and Valerio Castelli brings together international designers and companies exploring transformation through materials, processes, and global research.

Soft Matters by Secolo + Tableau
Secolo presents a new collaboration with the Danish multidisciplinary design studio TABLEAU during Milano Design Week 2026. The project takes shape through a dedicated installation at Via Giacosa 35 in Milan and marks the brand’s first collaboration with an external design studio. Conceived as an immersive experience, the exhibition explores the theme of reconnection, inviting visitors to engage with design through imagination, tactility and a more spontaneous approach to living. Within the installation, objects, graphics and space come together to create a shared narrative that encourages a renewed relationship with the surrounding environment. At the centre of the presentation are the pieces developed in collaboration with TABLEAU, including the Trace sofa and a reinterpretation of Secolo’s iconic Pingu side table. These works are presented alongside selected pieces from Secolo’s new collection, such as the Plumea lounge chair, creating a dialogue between TABLEAU’s vision and Secolo’s evolving design language.

OASIS by Rick Tegelaar

For his first solo show in Milan, Dutch designer and maker Rick Tegelaar presents OASIS, an immersive 270 sqm installation that distils a career defined by material experimentation, self‑built machinery, and large‑scale international commissions.
Based in Arnhem, Tegelaar moves fluidly between design, engineering, and material research. His work for global brands — including the now‑iconic Meshmatics Chandelier for Moooi — demonstrates his ability to transform humble industrial materials into refined, technically sophisticated objects.
OASIS brings this trajectory into a living, responsive environment where objects seem to move and breathe. Historic pieces, such as the energy‑innovative Ceiling Cam Fam, appear alongside new works created specifically for Milan, including the debut of an exclusive lighting collection.
